Speaking of, Stendhal dragon is out! Sweeeeeeeeet. Thoron is still my fave, but Stendhal is actually a little better articulated and has some interesting detail work, like scarified celtic symbols in his wings, and carved into his horns...very interesting.

The only thing that has stopped me from getting the pirates is because I have nowhere to put my tons of similar dragon sets as it is...and no desire to start collecting another line...I've been almost hoping all the lines I am into would just die off so I can have an excuse to stop collecting, I have too much as it is...

We have almost all of the dragons line stuff, but just partial metal ages. (The big dragon mountain set is at tru for 50% off right now, BTW. Excellent deal.
We already have both Pyrates ships, and while the island looks tempting, Treasure island is supposed to be out for Christmas, and looks MUCH more impressive.
I have the older megabloks ships, which were the BEST at the time. (The ice skimmer being pulled by the skeletal dragon is discounted at TRU right now, and is a great concept piece.
I actually bought two of the larger Dragons ships, to make one LARGE dragons ship, and one smaller one. Pretyt cool, especially since the 2nd one was on clearance for $10!)
The new Pyrate ships are easily the best work Megabloks has done. Both ships look excellent once complete, have more features, and are more realistic looking, with proper decks and structure. I do think they skimped a little on the crew this go around. though.
The battle damage features of the skeleton ship are great, and the sculpting on it is excellent, but I think the lightup feature leaves a little to be desired. No biggie, since I can always toss a string of christmas lights in there, if I really want.
I'm going to do a hanging wall shelf for ships, and it'll have the megabloks ships, the ship from Pirates of Darkwater, the Disney Treasure Island playset ship, and the Trimarine from waterworld.
And Walmart has a el cheap-o pirate ship in the generic box aisle that looks sorta tempting for $9.99.
I mentioned before that I saw the Pyrate sets when I picked up my Mag Warriors. They looked cool, but I resisted the temptation....for now. [img]wink.gif[/img]
Only real MAJOR downside to these at all, is that this go around the parts are molded very specific, so you won't be doing a lot of mixing and matching of parts to create new ships.
But the ships are SO good, that I can forgive that issue.
The smaller Pyrate ship is a much better deal right now, maybe pic that one up, and get hooked for Christmas.
Right after Christmas, you can usually pic up almost all the sets at Target, clearanced 50% or more. We've always picked up our bulk then, and if we had bought everything retail, we'd probably have $400-$600 worth of Megabloks dragon and pyrate stuff.
Our old display (till the new kittens played "Godzilla" on it) was 6 foot long, by about 3 feet high or so, and it did NOT have room for all the dragons, and the large ships.
I'll probably get two of those large folding tables at wal-Mart one of these days, and setup a massive display in one of the extra bedroom/storerooms. Plans are to hanfg something from the ceiling with holes in it, so I can hang the dragons up over the display. I'll probably plan it using amber red and blue christmas lights for lighting as well.
